Volcom Stone Presents
Volcom SEED
Volcom's history is steeped in support and involvement of the boardsports industry. Over the past few years our apparel has become increasingly more style-led to meet the needs of our fashion-focused consumer.
We felt it was a natural progression to support up and coming talent in the fashion industry, much as we do in core sports. Volcom is a youth orientated brand and we want to champion and connect directly with what we see as the roots of the fashion industry.
We launched our first project with London College of Fashion in 2009. Students were given either a pair of jeans or a jacket from the Volcom Brand Jeans collection and asked to create unique pieces that embody Volcom's vision combined with the student's creative spirit.
On March 18th 2010, Volcom showcased twenty of the best pieces at London's Vinyl Factory. The winning designer Anju Khusal was offered a 6 month placement at Volcom design european headquarters in France. She has now finished designing her 15 piece capsule collection and it will be available in Fall 2011.
Now we have embarked on SEED 2011 working with Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris. This time the students are being asked to reinvent our Tee and Fleece categories. We will exhibit their work in Paris in April 2011 and the winner will be given the chance to come and work at Volcom to design their own capsule collection.
